HSU (Hub Sensor Unit)

The sensor unit for advanced monitoring in solar parks The HSU (Hub Sensor Unit) from IED Company’s Sunnertracking line is an atmospheric sensor unit designed to provide real-time data on environmental conditions in solar parks. This advanced technology collects key information, such as wind speed and direction, snow level, and solar radiation, and sends this data to the Network Control Unit (NCU) to improve the safety and efficiency of solar panels. The HSU is ideal for optimizing the performance of solar parks in any environment, from temperate climates to extreme conditions, thanks to its durability and advanced functionality.

Smart connectivity for efficient and accurate management.

The HSU incorporates an atmospheric sensor system for solar parks that reads atmospheric variables essential for the safe operation of solar systems. This device measures wind speed and direction, snow level, and solar radiation intensity. This data allows the NCU to make automatic adjustments to the solar panels, protecting the infrastructure in adverse weather conditions and maximizing energy production in optimal conditions. HSU’s low-temperature models, which operate from -30°C, are equipped with heated atmospheric wind sensors, ensuring adequate performance even in cold climates.

Versatile connectivity and communication protocols.

The HSU supports two communication methods to integrate efficiently with the rest of the solar park infrastructure. The RF version uses a ZigBee module that acts as a router, transmitting data from the HSU to the ZigBee network coordinator, usually the NCU. In the RS485 version, the HSU connects directly to the RS485 bus where the NCU is installed, enabling fast and stable communication. In both cases, the HSU uses the Modbus protocol, an industry standard for ensuring effective and accurate communication. Robust outdoor design Designed specifically for outdoor environments, the HSU features a waterproof and UV-resistant IP65 enclosure, ensuring durability and operation in all weather conditions. Its compact size (190x190x130mm) allows for easy integration into solar park mounting systems, while its AC power supply provides a constant and reliable source of energy. The HSU is built to withstand extreme temperature variations, making it a reliable choice for solar parks located in regions with harsh climates.

Transformative HSU applications for optimizing solar energy.

The information provided by HSU enables smarter and more effective management of solar parks, benefiting both the safety and efficiency of the facilities:
  1. Protection of infrastructure in adverse weather conditions: Data on wind speed and direction allows solar panels to be automatically adjusted to prevent damage in high wind situations. Similarly, the atmospheric snow level sensor prevents excessive accumulation on the panels.
  2. Maximizing energy production: The atmospheric solar radiation sensor allows the NCU to adjust the orientation of the panels to maximize sunlight capture, increasing production under optimal conditions.
  3. Monitoring and preventive maintenance: HSU provides critical real-time information that allows anomalies in the environment to be detected, facilitating preventive maintenance and reducing downtime.
  4. Adaptation to extreme conditions: Thanks to its low-temperature model and heated atmospheric sensors, the HSU continues to operate in regions with harsh winters, making it a reliable solution in cold climates.
Sunnertracking’s HSU is an advanced solution for environmental monitoring in solar parks, allowing operators to optimize performance, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure the protection of their facilities. With its versatile connectivity, rugged design, and accurate atmospheric sensors for solar parks, the HSU is the perfect ally for driving success in solar power generation in any terrain or climate.
